Nick Atwood, CRPS, CRPC, CFBS
I joined PFG Advisors in 2016 to spearhead the business development efforts of our Workplace Financial Solutions unit. I was a national retirement consultant for a large financial firm for over eight years, during which time I advised organizations on how to identify, select, and administer retirement plans, such as 401(k)s and 403(b)s . My clients ranged from large healthcare companies to local school boards.
What do you love best about your work?
The beauty of this work is witnessing its impact – whether big or small – on the people we are fortunate enough to touch.
What does it take to be really good at what you do?
You need to listen, and be there for the people you wish to support. I have spent almost a decade listening to business leaders share their hopes and aspirations for their companies, and their people.
What are you most proud of at your work with PFG?
The relationships I have cultivated are a great source of pride and joy for me.
What are you passionate about outside of your work?
Faith and family anchor my life, though my third passion is refereeing basketball games. Refereeing has taught me so much about communication, especially when the stakes are high – whether you’re talking about college basketball, or your financial future.
What is a little known fact about you?
Refereeing college basketball can be really stressful – you might be making a tough call in an arena filled with ten thousand screaming fans. My family frequently comes to watch, and I have developed a secret sign language with my young children, which allows us to say “I love you” to each other– even when the game is getting tense.
